Obituary of Richard Austin
Richard G. Austin, age 77 was born in San Francisco, California and passed away this August after an extended illness.
He grew up in Monterey, attended Monterey High School graduating in 1959. After high school, he went on to play football for MPC and then attended Utah State where he also played football. After college, he met and married Laura McGinnis (Austin) and together they raised their family on the Monterey Peninsula.
Dick Austin owned and operated Dick Austin Drywall for over 50 years, he also volunteered and coached Football in the 80’s for Robert Louis Stevenson School, as well as volunteered coaching sports for Santa Catalina School. Dick Austin loved spending time with his family, boating on the Sacramento Delta, playing handball at the Salinas YMCA, most recently he took up Golf and enjoyed playing with friends or anyone else willing to play. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Lovell Austin, and his sister Sharon Crabill. He is survived by his wife Laura of 54 years and two daughters Laura Hair, her husband Joel Hair, their two children Dylon and Madison McClure, along with Evelyn Weimer, her husband Jeff Weimer, their two children Jeffrey and Ricky Weimer, his nephew Dave Crabill and his niece Lynda Benden. Family and friends brought Richard great joy. He loved watching his grandchildren play football, baseball and gymnastics. He was and will always be a true fan.

His memorial service will be held at Mission Memorial Park & Seaside Funeral Home, 1915 Ord Grove, Seaside, Ca 93955 on August 18th 2018 at 1:00 pm Saturday.
