Obituary of Rose Antoinette Ferrante

Our beloved Aunt Rose Ferrante, passed away on August 1, 2015 at the young age of 94. Rose lived life to the fullest, not wanting to slow down, keeping her energy and spunk until her passing. Rose Antoinette Ferrante was born in Pittsburgh, CA in 1920, the youngest of 10 children. In 1927, her parents Antonio and Angela Ferrante moved to Monterey. Rose grew up in Monterey during the fishing industry boom from the 1930's-50's, working in the canneries while her brothers fished on their family purse seiners, the AA Ferrante and Sea Queen. She worked for China Imports in Monterey, and following this, she made a career at Wells Fargo through retirement. Rose and her sister Angelina loved to go on trips and cruises. One of her joys was being around her family, especially having everyone at her house for the holidays, playing cards, dice, and cooking sphinges on New Year's Eve. Rose lived in their family home until her passing. She was a member of the San Carlos Parish including singing in the choir for 35 years. She was also a member and volunteered for the Italian Catholic Federation, the Santa Rosalia Festa Italia, Catholic Daughters, and Parade of Nations. She also was a long time volunteer at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and the Monterey Peninsula Volunteer Services Thrift Shop. Rose is survived by her sister-in-law Ann Ferrante (Neno), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Antonio and Angela, sisters, Nada Siino, Mary Milani, Angelina Ferrante; brothers, Sal, Frank, Vince, Joe, Horace and Neno.
