Obituary of Joe F. Aliotti

Giuseppi "Joe " Aliotti, age 77 passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family. A void was created by his passing and he will be greatly missed. Joe was born in Sicily, Italy on November 18, 1937 to Francesco and Francesca Aliotti. He was raised in Marettimo, Sicily. After his family moved to Monterey, California, and following his family tradition, he was a commercial fisherman for 65 years. He was an avid commercial fisherman, starting at an early age with his father, fishing in the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas. He fished in California and in Alaskan waters. He was the owner of several commercial fishing boats in which he took great pride. Joe enjoyed gardening, wine making and being with his family. He was a member of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church and was an usher. He is survived by his loving wife Pina Aliotti of 51 years; his two children - Frank (Pam) Aliotti, and Francesca (Rick) Petty; three brothers - Gaspere (Phyllis) Aliotti, Vince (Christina) Aliotti, Sal (Fran) Aliotti and sister - Phyllis (Mike) Aliotti; five grandchildren - Joey Aliotti, Frank Jr. (Candi) Aliotti, Olivia Aliotti, Barbara Petty and Ricky Petty; one great granddaughter - Isabella Aliotti, six nieces and 2 nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Francesco and Francesca Aliotti. There will be a funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church - 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the: Alzheimer Association of Northern California, 21 Lower Ragsdale Dr., Monterey, CA 93940 or charity of your choice.
