Obituary of Margaret Anne Quaid

Margaret Klaus Quaid and her twin sister were born January 24, 1929 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Mr. Helmut Klaus and Mrs. Anna Wilson Klaus. Mr. Klaus was a geophysicist employed by Shell Oil Corp. and the family moved several times during her childhood. On graduating from high school she entered Texas Tech College in Lubbock, where she met her future husband, Marvin. She graduated in June 1949 with a degree in Secretarial Studies. On Dec 19, 1949 she married Marvin, a Naval Aviator and they moved very often. She was a perfect Navy wife tending to the family during Marvin's long absences at sea. The couple had four children, Joel, Jeffrey, Shelley, and Brenda. Their duty stations took them to Alameda, CA, Oxford, MI, San Jose, CA, Annapolis, MD, San Diego, CA, Lemoore, CA and Monterey. After Marvin's retirement they settled in Monterey where Margaret was active in a number of areas; she was a member of the Children's Home Assn., a docent in the first class at the Monterey Aquarium, a task she enjoyed into her 80's. She was quite active with the Tapping Grannies and a regular with Jacki Sorenson's Aerobic. She was employed by the Monterey Peninsula School District as the Registrar at Walter Colton Junior High. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, their four children and five grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey at 1:30 PM Thursday, October 29 and graveside service will held at 2 PM in San Carlos Cemetery.
