Obituary of Mary Harden Belser

Mary Harden Belser, 91, loving wife of the late Colonel John Henry Belser passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 5th, 2015 with her family by her side. Her loving son Kerry was invaluable in providing her care these past years allowing her to be at home enjoying sunny days in her beautiful garden. Mary was born the youngest of eight children on October 8, 1924 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Growing up in El Paso, Texas in an avid golf family where three of her brothers were PGA professionals, Mary became an outstanding golfer who won numerous club and team championships. She met and married John while he was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Mary accompanied John throughout his 30 plus year military career and settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1974. Mary enjoyed many years of membership at Coral de Tierra Country Club. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings. She is survived by her four sons Colonel (USA Ret) John H. Belser Jr. (Karen), Commander (USNR Ret) Vincent J. Belser (late Judy), William E. Belser (Liz), Kerry M. Belser and daughter Marianne Belser (Tracy). Mary is also survived by five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 2 pm - Mission Mortuary 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey.
