Obituary of Margaret J. Magner

Monterey Margaret "Peggy" Jean Magner was born in Plentywood, Montana on December 2, 1932 to Adriana (Garneau) McNulty and Francis I. McNulty. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1950 and moved to Great Falls, Montana, later being employed by General Mills. Peggy moved to San Jose, CA in 1952, where she was employed by San Jose Water Works in the accounting office as a Construction Accountant. She married Edward E. Magner III on September 12, 1959 in San Jose, CA. They moved to Monterey, CA in 1962. She was employed by Saunders Mortgage Co., Monterey Saving and Loan and Casa Manana. Peggy was active as a volunteer in many organizations. She was President of Punch and Judy Chapter of Children Home Society, Cypress Chapter of Children's Services and Friends of Kinship Center. She helped organize and was Chairman of the Cypress Funds Committee of Kinship Center for 28 years. She also volunteered for the Crosby and AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Official Cars Committee for 37 years and Scramp Hospitality for 30 years. She served on the Board of the Monterey Civic Club and wrote and received grants to repair and retrofit their adobe -- The House of the Four Winds. She was active in the PTA at Monte Vista and Walter Colton and attended Monterey Peninsula College majoring in Business, Word Processing and Gentrain, traveling with them to Europe several times. She was a member of Monterey History and Art, Monterey Museum of Art, Carmel Foundation, Gentrain Society, Chomp Auxiliary, PIC Investment Group, Wednesday Night Bridge Group and many other organizations. Peggy and her husband Ed loved to travel and took many friends on trips to New England, many cruises to Europe, Canada, Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexico and the Caribbean. They also traveled to Ireland and Scotland 4 times with Seamus Kennedy. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ed, Son, Edward E. Magner IV of Blaine, WA. Daughter Lisa (Armando) Ramirez of Prunedale, CA. Grandchildren - Megan Hale, Melissa Hale, Josh Ramirez, Justin Ramirez of Prunedale, CA. Joanna Ellis (Melvyn), Evan Magner, MacKenna Magner, Logan Magner all of Blaine, Washington. Great Grandchildren - Kayla, Abigail and Dalton Ellis of Blaine, Washington. Sister, Patricia Oswald of Kenmore, WA. Brothers James McNulty, Plentywood, Montana and Richard (Merry) McNulty of Fort Worth, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at San Carlos Cathedral at 9:30 am. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the mass at The Elks Lodge, 150 Mar Vista Dr., Monterey from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm.
